It is such a joy for those who work at La Plaza when at the end of every year, we can say, we don't just raise money, we raise friends.
La Plaza has a strong interest in the well-being and vitality of the community in which we live and work. We also believe that the ever-growing Latino population can have a positive impact in making Central Indiana a great place to visit, live, work, and play.
Latinos are the fastest-growing group in Central Indiana, having increased in numbers by nearly 400% in only a decade. The secret to La Plaza's success is in its commitment to collaborations with other Central Indiana organizations and individuals. These collaborative efforts mean that we can provide Latinos with access to a wide array of needed services in a cost-effective manner. Our budget is a little more than $1,100,000 annually.
But this level of funding is needed simply to maintain La Plaza's current programs. In order to secure current funding and to grow a strong base of giving support from others for future program expansion, La Plaza depends on investments from those who understand that a vibrant, productive Latino community is vital to Central Indiana's long-term prosperity and quality of life.
Ways to Give
Cash, Real Estate or Securities
CASH, REAL ESTATE OR SECURITIES gifts can offer great tax benefits, and make the greatest immediate impact for La Plaza. As allowed by law, such gifts can qualify for immediate charitable deductions, and also avoid capital gains tax on any appreciation of donated assets.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
A CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUST (CRT) is a life income gift, by which you transfer assets to La Plaza now, receiving a deduction for part of the transfer, and then receive income for the rest of your life or some other period of time -- after which any remaining trust assets are transferred to La Plaza.
Charitable Gift Annuities
CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITIES (CGAs), like CRTs, are life income gifts: you transfer assets and get an immediate deduction for part of the transfer, then receive income for the rest of your life or some other period of time. When the last beneficiary dies, the CGA's assets pass directly to La Plaza.
Life Insurance
LIFE INSURANCE can make a great gift. If, for example, you name La Plaza as owner and beneficiary of a paid-up policy, you can qualify for a deduction equal to the policy's cost basis or replacement value, whichever is less. Even if the policy is not paid up, you may still be able to deduct the cash surrender value, and can cover further premiums by making additional tax-deductible contributions to La Plaza.
